Deck Building Season is in Full Swing

Johnson Lumber has officially kicked off the new deck building season with our annual Deck and Home Expo. This year’s Expo featured an array of new products recently introduced to enhance your outdoor living experience. Many of these new products have been incorporated into our expanded full size deck displays.

Decking materials are becoming more durable and available in an increasing assortment of colors and textures. A stone decking aptly called “StoneDeck” has been getting a lot of attention. It is like having a stone patio for a deck.

Johnson Lumber is now carrying “ecolife” treated lumber. This material is not only beautiful but is green spec listed in the top 5-10% of environmentally friendly products. An advanced polymer based non-metallic preservative system reduces cracking and splintering by approximately 90%.

Railing options continue to flourish. There is an ever expanding selection of railing colors to match or contrast your decking surface. So you can enjoy your water view or scenic backyard, clear glass balusters from Endurance or acrylic panels from Fairway  for railing have been popular for see through railing systems. Also from Fairway, large baluster railing is available for the stately home.

Let nature light your deck with solar powered deck lights. Keep under your deck dry with products from “RainEscape” or “DrySnap” .  Cookouts are now more convenient with outdoor kitchens from Atlantis cabinets . 

Even the dull stuff is getting interesting. An array of good hidden fastener systems and color headed screws to match almost any deck surface are now available. Post footers by “AG-CO” not requiring concrete is now in stock.
